STROBEL FOR WYOMING

A VOICE OF REASON
for House District 22

Why am I running
for public office?

First and foremost, my passion for helping people is what inspires me to run. There have been many changes in western Wyoming, and living here for many years, I see there are many more good choices we can make for the people living in this area. Our community is a great place to live and raise a family, plus it provides us all with much opportunity. I am compelled to give back with my time and service, as the people living here have been kind and gracious to me and my family.

Bio

I moved to Jackson Hole from Twin Falls, Idaho in 1995 at the ripe age of 19. I wanted to be closer to my grandmother, Lois Strobel, and spend more time on the family ranch in Bondurant. In 1995, I co-founded Jackson Hole Net (Now AllTrips.com) and served as Vice President for 18 years before spinning off to start See Jackson Hole, which is Jackson Hole’s world famous Live webcam website. It features over 80 live webcam feeds around the greater Jackson Hole Region. I’m married to the amazing Clara Harbeck and we have 2 children – as well as 2 dogs and a cat. We reside in Etna, Wyoming full time. I am proud to own and manage 2 businesses in Jackson: Jackson Hole Computer Clinic (JHComputerClinic.com) and See Jackson Hole (SeeJH.com), located at 650 West Broadway in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

When not busy with work and family, I truly enjoy all the mountain activities that western Wyoming has to offer! Including, fly fishing boating, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, hiking, and backpacking.

MY POSITIONS

Public Lands Staying in Public Hands

Wyoming’s public lands are its greatest resource. While I may not always agree with the way the federal government is managing them, I definitely do not want to see our public lands turned over to the state of Wyoming and be sold to the highest bidder.

Public Education & School Safety

Adequate funding for education has been a bedrock of Wyoming education since the state’s founding. I will always fight for investment and a safe learning environment for our future generations.

Wyoming Ranching

We need to support measures at a state level that enable ranchers to retain, and not sell off, their ranches. Wyoming wildlife depends on ranchers to steward much of the open space they winter upon, and we all depend on ranchers to preserve a way of life that only exists in the American West.

Fiscal Policy

I hold the political and economic philosophy regarding fiscal policy and fiscal responsibility with an ideological basis in capitalism, individualism, limited government, and laissez-faire economics.

Freedom of Choice

I do not believe I know what’s best for other people. I also don’t believe that other people know what’s best for other people. I “live and let live” and keep my nose out of other people’s business. I will fight for your right to choose what’s best for you. I want to create the maximum amount of economic and social freedom, while only keeping the most necessary taxes to keep society functioning. Removing laws that infringe upon your rights of freedom of choice is important to me.

Natural Resources

We need to carefully manage our mineral resources. I support mineral legislation that allows these industries to continue to extract these resources. In turn, this supports the necessary infrastructure needed for those communities, and maintains the pristine environmental quality Wyoming residents deserve.

Energy

Wyoming has been blessed with an abundance of natural resources, including natural gas, oil, coal, wind, and sunshine. I support energy policies that will sustain our state budgets for many years to come. I will strive to position the state of Wyoming, in tandem with the University of Wyoming, on the cutting edge of renewable (wind & solar) energy, and on the forefront of clean-coal technology.

Pro 2nd Amendment

I believe in maintaining our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms and own a firearm. I hunt for game to feed my family and enjoy shooting as a hobby. Let’s start having serious conversations and consider real actions on how to prevent school shootings and protect society from tragic gun deaths.

HOUSING

I support empowering local towns and counties to address the housing issues that face their citizens. Different communities have different problems and each should have full authority to craft housing solutions that work for them. The legislature should not interfere with local housing measures.

PROPERTY TAXES

Exorbitant property tax increases are forcing people from their homes throughout Wyoming, especially in Teton County. I believe that the legislature should enact reforms that limit residential property tax increases.

Independent thinking.
